Mina takes over as NHPC Director

Mr RS Mina has taken over as Director (Personnel) of NHPC Limited. Prior to this, he was Executive Director (Consultancy & Business Development) in NHPC. Born in 1957, Mina did his Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering in 1979. He also holds MBA degree with specialisation in Financial Management and Human Resource Development. He started his professional career as Engineer Trainee in Indian Petro Chemical Corporation Ltd. in 1980. His carrier with NHPC began in 1981 as Engineer (Electrical).

Biocon Q4 net dips 62%

Mumbai: Biotechnolo-gy firm Biocon on Tuesday posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 24.88 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2009, nearly a 62 per cent decline over the same period a year ago. The company had a net profit of Rs 65.30 crore in the quarter ended March 31, 2008.

GlaxoSmithKline Q1 net up 18.14%

Mumbai: Drug maker GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals on Tuesday said its net profit for the first quarter ended March 31, 2009, rose by 18.14 per cent to Rs 143.27 crore. The company had a net profit of Rs 121.27 crore in the same quarter ended March 31, 2008.

Cadila Healthcare Q4 profit at Rs 58 cr

Mumbai: Cadila Healthcare, the flagship company of Zydus Cadila group, today reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 58 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2009, while the same stood at Rs 51.96 crore in the corresponding period a year ago.

Vijaya Bank net up at Rs 102.25 crore

Mumbai: Vijaya Bank on Tuesday said its net profit surged five-fold to Rs 102.25 crore in the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2009 over the same period last year.The bank had a net profit of Rs 17.80 crore in the quarter ended March 2008, Vijaya Bank said in a filing to the BSE.

Syndicate Bank profit up 64% at Rs 207 crore

Mumbai: Syndicate Bank on Tuesday reported 63.66 per cent growth in net profit at Rs 206.64 crore for the fourth quarter of 2008-09 over the same period of FY’08. The bank had a net profit of Rs 126.26 crore in the March quarter of FY’08, Syndicate Bank said in a filing to the BSE.

Central Bank of India Q4 net at Rs 62.51 crore

Mumbai: Central Bank of India on Tuesday announced its net profit for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2009, down 50.85 per cent to Rs 62.51 crore from the same period a year ago. The bank had a net profit of Rs 127.20 crore for the same quarter ended March 2008, Central Bank of India said in a filing to the BSE.

United Breweries profit up 68% at Rs 33 crore

Mumbai: Liquor-baron Vijay Mallya-led United Breweries on Tuesday said its net profit grew 68 per cent during the fourth quarter ended March 31 to Rs 32.90 crore over the corresponding period a year ago. The company had a net profit of Rs 19.58 crore in the fourth quarter last financial year, United Breweries said in a filing to the BSE.

Honda Q4 plunges

Tokyo: Honda says profit plunged during its most recent quarter, but its annual result was well above its target. The company said it had a net loss of 186.16 billion yen in the January-March period, down from a profit of 25.43 billion yen a year earlier.
