Capital khabar

Sidharth Mishra

Nishank cut

The election of Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand was largely facilitated by the outgoing Chief Minister Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri. Nishank made no bones about it at the Press briefing in the national Capital going to the extent of calling Khanduri his mentor, which many found difficult to swallow. Nishank, unlike some other Uttarakhandi leaders, is known for his malleability. Therefore when he showed the 'humility' of calling Khanduri his mentor, it was not out of sync with his character. But those who thought that Khanduri would be guiding force behind the new government, they are mistaken. Like his 'mentor' Khanduri, Nishank too wears fashionable kurtas. And in both cases they are sourced largely from Lucknow. But in the design of the kurtas, the Chief Minister-designate maintains a distinctive style of his own called the Nishank style.

Kadamkuan caucus

Cinestar and now BJP Member of Lok Sabha from Patna Shatrughan Sinha rising in the defence of party MP Yashwant Sinha should surprised many. Sinha has written a letter to party president wanting to know what really made him persuade Uttarkhand leader Bhagat Singh Koshiyari to withdraw resignation from the membership of Rajya Sabha whereas the resignation of Yashwant Sinha from all the party posts was accepted in such hurry. While Yashwant Sinha is known to be anti-Advani, Shatrughan's rise in politics has been due to proximity of his family with the Advanis. But back home in Bihar, both the Sinhas have roots in the same mohalla of Patna - Kadamkuan. In fact before shifting base to Hazaribagh, Yashwant Sinha had even contested Patna seat in 1991 on the ticket of Chandrashekhar's Samajwadi Janata Party.
