7th law school mediation tournament concludes

7thNLIU-INADR International Law School Mediation Tournament concluded with a lot of fervor at NLIU.

The tournament was organised by Alternate Dispute Resolution Cell (ADRC) at NLIU, Bhopal in collaboration with INADR. The students participated in third preliminary round with the dispute involving are legions sect and their ritual practice of animal sacrifice, which was opposed by their neighbours.

Followed by an hour long training session by Dr. Kimberly Schreiber, Mr. Cezary Rogula and Mr. John James Samuel titled “You Have No Idea How Much You Mediate Everyday” where they analysed the aspects of mediations useful in daily life. The highlight of the tournament, the final took place next, teams from NLU Jodhpur, NUJS, VMS and Nirma University qualified in the Advocate/Client category while Mediators from ILS Pune, GLC Mumbai, SLS Pune and NLU Orissa participated in the finals.

The problem was based on a dispute between two cardiologists, which led to one being sacked. In both the rounds the participants reached a settlement, showcasing how using mediation parties can reach to a solution in a matter of hours compared to the years it takes in court. This was followed with valedictory ceremony. Different awards were given to the winners of the mega event.

 The Overall Winner  was bagged by Institute of law, NIRMA, Gujarat.

EBC Spirit of Tournament Award was won by University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, Best Mediator Team was Institute of Law, NIRMA, Gujarat, Best Mediator Individual was won by WBNUJS, Kolkata, Best Advocate Client Team was ILS Pune, Best Advocate Client Pair was UPES, Dehradun.
