Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday laid foundation-stone for the drinking water supply project ‘Basudha’ at Sarumuhi village under Mahakalpada block in Kendrapada district.
The Rs 241-crore project of the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department would carter to the needs of 200 villages.
“People of 148 villages of Mahakalpada block and 52 villages of Marsaghai block will be benefited under the programme,” said an official.
Ahead of the Chief Minister’s visit, police took BJP district president Duryodhan Sahu to preventive custody to avoid any unpleasant situation during the programme.
