State-level volleyball competition begins

State-level beach volleyball competition started with a lot of fervour at the beach volleyball court located in the TT Nagar City stadium here from Monday.

Chairman of Police Housing Corporation Shailendra Srivastava inaugurated the championship. On this occasion, Joint Director Sports Vinod Pradhan and other officers, M.P. the patron of the Amateur Volleyball Association, R.L. Verma and other officials were present.

Addressing the launch programme, Shailendra Shrivastava said that with the aim of developing the volleyball game and providing its benefits to the sportspersons of the state, commendable initiative is being taken by the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare Director SL Thoussen.

He said that beach volleyball game is being expanded in different districts of the state, it is a matter of pleasure for the players. Earlier, he got acquainted with the players.

In the women's match played today, in the match between Hoshangabad against Jabalpur district, Jabalpur defeated Hoshangabad 2-0 (21-18, 21-13), RCC Bhopal beat Ratlam district 2-0 (21-11, 21 -17), Narsinghpur defeated Shajapur 2–0 (21–6, 24–22), and Mandsaur defeated Jabalpur Corporation 2–1 (21–16, 17–21, 15–13). Similarly, in the men's category, Gwalior district defeated Betul district 2–0 (21–17, 21–13).

Earlier in the matches played, RCC Bhopal defeated Ratlam 2-0 (21-8, 21-12), Jabalpur district Khargone district 2-0 (21-9, 21-9) and Police Academy Gwalior Mandsaur Defeated 2–0 (21–11, 21–11). Under the competition, semi-final and final matches will be played on Wednesday 23 October and the competition will be concluded on the same day.

Meanwhile, in the Abu Dhabi Open Rigata (Championship) played from 14 to 19 October 2019 in Abu Dhabi, M.P. Water Sports Academy player Hrithika Dangi gave the country a gold medal by performing brilliantly in the Leisure 4.7 event. While in the boys category, the academy's player Ram Milan Yadav brought the bronze medal to the country.

The academy's medal winning players have been congratulated by the Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare, Jeetu Patwari. Expressing happiness over the excellent performance of both the young players, he said that our players are making the country and the state proud by winning medals in international events.

Medalists Ritika Dangi and Ram Milan Yadav on Monday met Director Sports and Youth Welfare SL Thoussen at TT Nagar Stadium. Sports Director Thousen cheered and congratulated the two players and encouraged them, saying that hard work is sure to succeed. He encouraged the players to practice continuously. Chief of Water Sports Sailing Academy was present on this occasion.
