IED blast by Naxals kills ASP, injures two others
An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Monday killed Additional Superintendent of Police Akash Rao Girepunje and injured two officers. The attack occurred during a patrol near Dondra village following reports of arson by Naxalites. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy CM Vijay Sharma paid tributes, calling Girepunje a brave martyr.
Three dead in Delhi in seperate incidents
At least three people died in separate incidents in Delhi on Monday. Two men were killed in a fire caused by a short circuit during e-rickshaw charging in Nand Nagri, while an eight-year-old boy died and another was injured after a building collapsed in Nangloi’s Indira Camp. In a separate incident, a fire broke out in the signalling room at Trilokpuri Sanjay Lake metro station, disrupting Pink Line services; no casualties were reported. Authorities have launched investigations into the fire and collapse, with safety checks ongoing in affected areas.
India to hit record foodgrain production this year
India is poised to achieve record foodgrain production in the 2025-26 kharif season, supported by an above-normal monsoon forecast, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said. During his ongoing Viksit Krishi Abhiyan outreach, farmers raised concerns about fake pesticides, pest-resistant crop varieties, and price crashes.
