Monday, 09 June 2025 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal

In observance of World Brain Tumor Day on June 8, AIIMS Bhopal, under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Ajai Singh, Executive Director, organized an insightful and informative awareness campaign aimed at educating the public on brain tumors, their symptoms, and the importance of early detection and treatment. The event was a significant step in raising awareness about this serious condition, which often goes undiagnosed in its early stages, leading to delayed treatment.

World Brain Tumor Day is observed globally each year to raise awareness about brain tumors, a condition that affects thousands of people worldwide. In India, where neurological conditions are often diagnosed too late, awareness is crucial to improving early detection and timely intervention.

During the event, expert doctors from AIIMS Bhopal shared valuable insights on the nature of brain tumors, emphasizing the critical role of early diagnosis in effective treatment. Attendees were informed about the different types of brain tumors, their common symptoms, and the various treatment options available. A key focus of the campaign was on dispelling myths and misconceptions surrounding brain tumors. Interactive sessions were held, allowing the public to ask questions and clarify their doubts, which made the campaign not only informative but also highly engaging.

Prof. (Dr.) Ajai Singh, while addressing the attendees, said, “In a country like India, where neurological conditions often go undiagnosed in time, raising awareness about brain tumors is extremely important. AIIMS Bhopal is not only at the forefront of promoting public awareness but is also consistently dedicated to providing advanced medical care to patients suffering from complex diseases. World Brain Tumor Day reminds us of our social and medical responsibility towards timely diagnosis, continuous research progress, and compassionate care for patients.”

The event was attended by faculty members, resident doctors, nursing officers, students, patients, and their attendants, all of whom actively participated in the awareness campaign.
