Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has strongly condemned the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of doing petty politics in the name of tribal heroes. JMM General Secretary cum Spokesperson Vinod Kumar Pandey said that on one hand the BJP pretends to respect tribal heroes, while on the other hand it has been continuously insulting the culture, history and tribal identity of Jharkhand.
Pandey said that the BJP has no moral right to comment on the sacrifices and legacy of the glorious tribal heroes of Jharkhand. He alleged that during its rule, the BJP conspired to hand over water, forest, land to corporate houses and ignored the basic problems of the tribals.
JMM said that tribal heroes like Bhagwan Birsa Munda, Sido-Kanhu, Tilka Manjhi, Veer Budhu Bhagat had fought against colonial exploitation and social injustice. But the BJP tried to crush their ideals during its tenure. Citing the 2017 Land Acquisition Amendment Bill, the party said that through this law, an attempt was made to snatch the land of the tribals, which was thwarted due to the opposition of JMM and the tribal society.
General Secretary cum Spokesperson Pandey said that the BJP took symbolic steps like celebrating Birsa Munda's birth anniversary as National Tribal Pride Day, but it completely failed to formulate concrete policies in favor of the tribals at the ground level.
JMM said that the BJP's crushing defeat in the tribal-dominated seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections is proof that the people of Jharkhand have understood their false promises. The party said that under the leadership of Hemant Soren, JMM has given priority to the interests of the tribals.
Pandey said, 'We will continue to expose the hypocrisy of the BJP and continue the struggle to protect the rights, honor and self-respect of the tribals.' He appealed to the people of Jharkhand to recognize the divisive agenda of the BJP and protect their glorious history by uniting.
