Haryana cancels leave of all police, health department staff

Friday, 09 May 2025 | PNS | Chandigarh

Amid the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the Haryana Government on Thursday cancelled the leaves of all the personnel of the police, health, and fire services departments. The orders were issued by the chiefs of the respective departments to step up the security of the state, a day after India attacked nine terrorist sites in Pakistan in Operation Sindoor.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has cancelled all his upcoming official programmes, while flight operations at the newly opened Hisar airport have been completely shut down. The panchayat department has issued instructions to install warning sirens at common buildings across all villages.

Confirming the development, the police department’s spokesperson said, “The orders have been issued by the Home Department and we have recalled all the police personnel who are on leave and have blocked all the further leave applications. All police personnel have been ordered to report on their duties and no leave shall be granted till further orders”.

Keeping in view the current tense situation, Haryana Health and Family Welfare Minister Arti Singh Rao said that the State Government has decided to impose a ban on the leave of all officers and employees working in the Health Department with immediate effect.

Instructions have been issued to all Civil Surgeons and Chief Medical Officers of Haryana that they should not allow any leave to their subordinate employees, whether it is casual or pre-approved, till further orders.
