Haryana Government on Friday issued orders to the Deputy Commissioners and all the District Food and Supplies Controllers regarding the maintenance of smooth supply and distribution of essential commodities such as food items, petrol, diesel, fodder, and other daily necessities in the State.

An official spokesperson said that this was done taking cognizance of the rumours that are causing hoarding of essential commodities such as food items, petrol, diesel, fodder, and other daily necessities even though there is no panic and there is no shortage of essential items in the State. "To safeguard public interest and maintain smooth availability of essential goods, the Deputy Commissioners and District Food and Supplies Controller have been directed to maintain smooth supply of all essential commodities including the current stock position, retail prices, and any measures being undertaken to ensure adequate availability and price stability of all essential commodities including pulses, all petroleum products such as Motor Spirit (Petrol), High Speed Diesel (HSD) & LPG," the statement said.

The spokesperson said that an advisory has also been issued by the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department to the Deputy Commissioners to remain vigilant and keep a close watch on supply and distribution, including the current stock position, retail prices, and any other measures being undertaken to ensure adequate availability and price stability.

Furthermore, all petroleum dealers in their jurisdiction have been advised to keep a maximum stock of the petroleum products, maintain close liaison and coordinate with the District level Coordinator of the Oil Industry who will ensure availability of adequate stocks of petroleum products at all terminals and outlets in the State.

The spokesperson further said that the Deputy Commissioners and all the District Food and Supplies Controller have been advised to keep a close watch on the supply and distribution of all petroleum products in their jurisdiction and take necessary action under Control Orders, if required, so that no artificial scarcity is allowed to take place and the unscrupulous elements do not resort to hoarding and black marketing of these commodities.
