Permission issued to release 891.944 MCM water

Permission has been granted to release 891.944 MCM (Million Cubic Meters) of water from the Gandhi Sagar Dam for the construction of the 1920 MW Pumped Storage Project by Greenko Group, based on the No Objection Certificate and recommendation provided by the Chief Engineer, Water Resources Department, Jaipur.

Vinod Kumar Devda, Chief Engineer, Water Resources Department, Bhopal, has directed the Chief Engineer, Water Resources, Ujjain, to ensure that water required for drinking, irrigation, and industrial purposes remains stored in the Gandhi Sagar Dam, in accordance with the specified conditions. He further emphasised that operational manuals and dam safety standards must be strictly followed during the water release.

The release of water must be carried out in coordination with the Inter-State Control Committee/members (Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan). Measures must also be taken to alert the downstream areas through an effective alarm system before initiating the release.
