Bhadrak Bar elects new office-bearers

The biannual election of Bhadrak Bar Association was held here recently. The members who were elected are: Gobind Chandra Mohapatra, president, Binay Swain, vice-president, Santosh Kumar Acharya, general secretary, Parthasarathi Panda, joint secretary finance, Madhusudan Nath, joint secretary library, Sarat Mahakud Joint, secretaries general, Madhabananda Nayak, treasurer and Amarendra Mohanty, Sanjukta Bhanja, Manas Ranjan Das and Hrushikesh Behera, executive members.
Presiding officer Saroj Taan Das informed that out of 874 members of Bhadrak Bar Association which is functioning since 1905, 633 members cast their votes while one vote was rejected as the voter belonged to a different Bar. Some aggrieved members of the Bar approached the court of CJJD, Bhadrak challenging their rejection of membership from the reputed Bhadrak Bar Association.
Some lawyers have also separately formed a Bar named District Bar Association. But the court dismissed their interim application in order to stop the election process.
The Bar members offered thanks to the presiding officer for successfully conducting the election.
