Pyari Mohan lauds contributions of JITM

Parlakhemundi: BJD Rajya Sabha member Pyari Mohan Mohapatra visited the Jagannath Institute of Technology and Management (JITM) and the CSREM, which is located in the JITM campus and minutely observed the methodology of teaching, the laboratory and posed questions to the students of the institute. Impressed with their answers, he said the contribution of the JITM situated in a tribal belt on the periphery of Odisha is of a great importance. Accompanied by Minister of Revenue SN Patro and Parlakhemundi MLA K Narayan Rao, he laid the foundation of a Women's Enterprises Training Hostel, the building of the Management Development Centre and a Vedanta-aided welding workshop and CNC machine shop. JITM chief Prof Sukanta Mishra, Prof DN Rao and members of the governing body of both the institutes were present along with the students.

Bhuban residents resent Govt apathy to school

Dhenkanal: Discontentment is brewing among the residents of Bhuban, due to the apathetic attitude of the Mass Education Department towards the high schools located in the rural area. Submitting a comparative statement, they have alleged that the State has provided 18 teachers for 195 students reading in Dhenkanal Laxmidhar Municipal High School and 18 teachers for 350 students reading at Sarangdhar High School in Kamakshya Nagar. Surprisingly, only seven teachers are there for 504 students of Sree Arabinda Vidyapitha at village Surapratapur in Bhuban. Interestingly, the Government has sanctioned Rs 5 lakh for development of play ground of Bhuban High School, but the Damsal Govt High School is without a compound wall, ever since it was established in 1971.

Fraudulent patta racket on rise at Kamakhyanagar

Dhenkanal :A group of tricksters are reportedly engaged in providing false pattas (Record of Rights) to people of Kamakhyanagar Tehsil by mentioning the landed property of others. Sources said, by pledging fraudulent pattas in commercial banks, many have started borrowing loans, which would be irrecoverable in future. It is alleged that, one Pallau Dehury, Duryadhan Dehury and Raghunath Dehury, sons of Kirtan Dehury of village Bhagirathpur Sasar, though are the real owners of the land, but a false patta was issued to Jyoti Mohanty of Kamakhyanagar relating to Khata no 204/201, which she mortgaged to the State Bank of India, ADB Branch to avail a loan. The people of Kamakhyanagar have petitioned the Collector and the RDC to conduct an enquiry on the false patta racket.

Disaster Preparedness Day observed in D’nal

Dhenkanal: A meeting at the Gymnasium Hall was held on Thursday to prepare people to meet natural calamities. The day was significant, as 10 years ago, the horrific super cyclone which had occurred. Presiding over the meeting to observe the disaster preparedness and reduction day, Dhenkanal ADM Gunanindni Jena advised the audience to face natural calamities with courage. Others who spoke on the occasion were Dhenkanal sub-collector Biswanath Acharya, assistant district chief medical officer Pravakar Sahu, former municipal chairman Sreedhar Sahu, and former headmaster BB High School Satrughana Bhutia.
