Do not persecute Hindus on basis of Liberhan report: VHP

PTI | New Delhi

Unfazed by the Liberhan Commission report indicting it in the Babri Masjid demolition, VHP on Tuesday said that it will not stop the Ram Janmabhoomi movement and that any move to "persecute" the Hindus on the basis of the report will be considered
war against the community.

"What Commission has done and said could be a matter of history, a matter of debate. Because of this, neither Ram Janmabhoomi movement will stop nor the process of the construction of a magnificent temple," VHP leader Praveen Togadia told reporters here.

"Any action against Hindu society regarding Ram temple and Babri demolition will be considered action against Hindu society. It will be not only be considered action against Hindu society but it will be considered war against the Hindu society," he said.

Maintaining that the Government of the country will not be able to stop the Hindus' tradition of giving up their life in the name of lord Ram, the VHP leader said the Congress Government should not "dare to persecute Hindu community on the basis of the report of a commission, otherwise a struggle will follow which will be Hindu versus Congress."

Togadia said VHP is committed to a Ram temple at Ram Janmabhoomi.

"For this, we are ready to make all sacrifices. We have already made preparations under democratic structure (maryada) and we will fulfil the expectations of the Hindu community," he added.

Togadia appealed to UPA president Sonia Gandhi to clear "all hurdles" which are delaying the construction of Ram temple at the disputed site "in the way (late) Rajiv Gandhi (former Prime Minister) had done for the laying of the foundation of the temple at Ram Janma Bhoomi."

Claiming that the struggle to construct Ram temple at Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya has been on for the last 450 years, Togadia said Hindus of the country feel proud in demolition of the structure "that had been put up by Babar to insult the community".

"Several kings and Prime Ministers came and went in the last 450 years. Struggle to construct Ram Janmabhoomi is still continuing. If anyone believes that the process of history will stop just because of a commission, they are in living in illusion," he said.

Reacting to the recommendations of the Commission that political leaders holding public office should not hold offices in religious organisations, Togadia questioned, "Why not the Government first remove Governor of the Andhra Pradesh who is president of Tirupati and the Vice President of India who is a trustee of a mosque."

The VHP leader refused to comment when asked about names of BJP leaders, including Atal Bihari Vajpayee and LK Advani, figuring in the Liberhan Commission report.

"Let them level allegations. It does not matter. Ram temple movement is important and it will go ahead," he said.

Bullet A farce

This is not religion, it's just a matter of pride. There are Many mandirs in Ayodhya that claim to be Ram's birthspot but mischiefmongers prefer a mosque.

Bullet Stand up for your values and Dharma
By Aam Admi on 11/25/2009 6:48:24 PM

This is about time that all Indians must stand up for their values and Dharma and shape the future of their nation. The government can not stop people from practicing their Dharma as it is their fundamental right. If government interferes with practice of Dharma, it would be a violation of basic human rights. Liberhan commission report shows the true face of today's anti-Hindu government.
