Done with acrylic on canvas, in his exhibition Quickening the Spirits is the first thing that one notices in the artists’ paintings is the portrayal of life’s complex problems with simplicity. “I wanted to depict the hidden reality of life that has become mundane with no spark or zeal. There is a need to look at one’s inner self .There are a lot of decisions in our life that we need to think about before taking any action. I wanted to focus on the dilemma in our lives through my works,” said the 29-year-old artist. In the painting titled Metamorphosis, a lady is depicted with a rugged face, as if victim of domestic violence. The rectangular painting along with the face of a female also illustrates scattered pictures of hockey stick. “I wanted to show how the woman is continuously battling with her sentiments to make up everything right for her family,” said Roy.
