MRes Particle Physics
The University of Sheffield, UK, is inviting applications for MRes Particle Physics course starting in September 2018. This one-year masters course is taught by the University of Sheffield's particle physics specialists. It is designed to build on the knowledge students have on their undergraduate degree, and give them advanced knowledge of electromagnetism, quantum mechanics and dark matter. Alongside core modules, students have the option to study related topics such as semiconductors, or general relativity or particle astrophysics.
The biggest part of the degree will be the research project. Students will be given research training to help them to develop their professional skills as they work alongside particle physics researchers. Depending on the subject of the project, it may be possible for students to complete their research at a laboratory outside the University of Sheffield – for example, at CERN.
Eligibility: Aspirants must have a three-year bachelor degree with a minimum of 60 per cent or “first class” from a reputable university in physics or a related subject. Overall IELTS grade of 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component, or equivalent.
Fee: The annual fee for overseas students starting in 2018 is £21,450.
Scholarships: The university offer International Merit Postgraduate Scholarships which are worth 50 per cent of the annual PG tuition fee. Students can apply for these scholarships after receiving a conditional or unconditional offer from the university.

MBA and BBA programme
The not-for-profit NIIT University (NU) recently announced the launch of four-year MBA and BBA programme with unique mentorship and six-month immersive industry practice. Students can specialisation in marketing and marketing analytics; entrepreneurship; finance, banking and fintech; business analytics; communication and media studies and digital and social media marketing.
This is an innovatively designed degree programme meant for students completing Class XII with managerial and leadership aspirations and combines two programmes — BBA and MBA. This will offer students a comprehensive management education combined with in depth specialisation in a specific domain. During the course, students will be mentored by an industry expert from the corporate world through Unique Mentorship Programme.
Eligibility criteria: Aspirants must have 50 per cent marks or equivalent in Class X and Class XII in five main subjects including English. The applicant could be from any stream. Should be appearing in the board examination in March/ April 2018 or should have necessary marksheets if the applicant has appeared in 2016 or 2017.

Admission Process: Admissions are processed through a unique Admission Interaction Process (AIP) which consists of three parts— questionnaire, NU Business Aptitude Test (NUBAT) and Personal Counselling Interaction (PCI). The PCI between the applicants and their parents/ guardians with designated officials from NU is an important prerequisite. AIP can be scheduled as per the student’s preferred time, online or at any nearest AIP location.
