City witnesses 7 cases of suicide in 48 hours

As many as nine persons committed suicides in seven different cases in the Capital in the last 48 hours. On Friday, a jilted lover, Amar Singh, committed suicide in Narela after his beloved refused his proposal to come along with him.

Two different incidents of suicide were reported from New Ashok Nagar, East district. In the first incident, Devendra Singh (34), a resident of Paryatan Apartments ended his life by hanging himself with a pipe on the roof. He was depressed. He is survived by his father, mother, wife and a son.

In another incident reported from New Ashok Nagar, an engineer, Subradeep Roy Choudhary (39), committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan. He was depressed due to his joblessness for the last one month.

In an another incident, Imarti Devi (50) committed suicide in Sultanpuri. On Wednesday night, a man, his wife and daughter committed suicide in Rajouri Garden.

Amar Singh committed suicide in Narela, Outer district, after his lover refused his proposal to come along with him. He shot himself in his stomach with the help of a revolver. Amar was in love with Prachi (17), the daughter of Maya, who lived with her son and daughter in Mamurpur, Nayi Basti. Amar was a close acquaintance of the family. On Friday, he came to meet the family and asked Prachi’s mother to send her along, but when she refused, he shot himself.

In another incident in New Ashok Nagar, an engineer, Subradeep Roy Chaudhary (39) committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan in his house. He was depressed as he was jobless for the last one month. He was alone at homeat the time of the incident.

In an incident of suicide reported from Sultanpuri, Imarti Devi (50) committed suicide by hanging herself through a ceiling fan as she was reportedly depressed. Also, Rajat Chandra Nagpal (24) allegedly committed suicide in his bathroom by consuming phenyl for not being able to find a suitable match for himself.

A man committed suicide along with his wife and daughter at his residence in Subhash Nagar area of Rajouri Garden in west Delhi on Wednesday. Psychiatrist, Pulkit Sharma, says, “When people face adverse circumstances, they start feeling hopeless and negative in life. They feel that there will be no end to their misery and take to suicide.”
