AIIMS, in its report, said that Singh has been receiving treatment to bring stability to his ‘fluctuating’ health. The court would hear arguments on the interim bail plea of Singh on Thursday, while his regular bail plea is listed for hearing on September 19. The AIIMS report said that Singh was hospitalised due to his ‘fluctuating’ health. Sanjay Gupta, Additional Professor of the Department of Nephrology at AIIMS, said in his report that Singh was admitted following complications related to post-renal transplant, diarrhoea, urinary tract infection, diabetes, dehydration and hypothyroid hypertension. Tihar jail authorities, in their medical report on 55-year old Singh’s health, told the court that an increase in Singh’s creatinine level necessitated the shifting of Singh to AIIMS on Monday evening for treatment.
The two-page report from AIIMS, submitted before Special Judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal, said Singh was suffering from multiple health problems. The report stated, “The S Creatinine is fluctuating between 1.3-1.6 mg/dl (normal for him is 0.8-0.9 mg/dl). He (Amar Singh) has persistent tachycardia (heart rate exceeding normal range). He continues to have vomiting and diarrhoea for which the gastroenterologist has suggested automatic function tests and endoscopy with mucosal biopsy is suggested.” The medical report from AIIMS added that Singh had fever with chills on Tuesday and his White Blood Cell counts increased to 13,300 and that a psychiatric consultation is sought for his anxiety and restlessness.
The report also said that on Tuesday night Singh had developed severe abdominal pain, which got relieved by medicine given by gastroenterologist and is advised x-ray abdomen. The doctor said any kidney transplant patient, showing more than 30 per cent acute rise in S Creatinine level, needs hospitalisation. The Jail Superintendent, in the report, has also annexed a copy of a letter written to him by a senior medical officer advising shifting of Singh to AIIMS.
Dr Gupta said that the patients renal transplant are more prone to urinary tract infection. His infection needs to be seriously taken care of. Amar Singh is very anxious and therefore, we are looking forward to take help from psychiatrists.”
Doctors are not allowing visitors inside the room, as they fear that it might increase his infection further. However, actress and politician Jaya Prada came to meet him on the second consecutive day. “I am really sad about Amarji’s present condition. He has urinary tract infection and his condition is very critical. Doctors are not allowing us to visit him as he is highly prone to infections. I feel bad that I am not able to help him in any way.”
