The Woman In Black

Starring : Daniel Radcliffe, Janet McTeer, Ciaran Hinds

At: PVR & others

Rated: 6/10

Based on the 1983 horror fiction novel by Susan Hill, The Woman In Black is about a small English town where children die at regular intervals. What keeps the viewer on edge is who the next victim will be. The fact that they are children adds to the spooks. How they die is even more horrific.

Directed by James Walkins, the movie deviates from the original book especially at the climax. Daniel Radcliffe, who plays the role of a young solicitor, Arthur Kipps, finally manages to step out of the Harry Potter mould.

As Kipps he has given a good performance even though he doesn’t look like a widower with a four-year-old son. If you are the kind of person who believes in superstitions and ghosts, this movie makes for a must watch.    —
