Islamist extremism

  • PDF

Sir — This has reference to the article, “Europe’s secularism is going fanaticism” (February 18) by M Burhanuddin Qasmi.

Why is the author worried about Europe’s failing secularism? I have to still find one Islamic country that protects, forget promotes, other religions.

The fact that the entire Hindu mass has evaporated in thin air in Pakistan and that Saudi Arabia does not allow non-Muslims to pray in the open, is indication enough of the fanatical Islamist Governments. In India, extremist Muslims have driven out Kashmiri Pandits from their State. The Pandits have been living in exile in their own country.

Secularism, fair-play and human rights are very sacred terms tothe majority of Muslims, but these are the prerogatives of the believers - fellow Muslims only.

Well Mr. Burhanuddin - you are probably one of the very few Muslim who has dared to question your own faith - and kudos to you for this. Totally agree with you.
Under these circumstances - it is quite natural that many Hindus would raise the bogey of Islam being a very selfish religion and also that it has no heart & considers other religions inferior. I have rarely come across a Muslim who even tries to accommodate another religion alongside muslim - as a result most people view it like an Evil now.
