3 LeT terrorists killed in encounter in Anantnag

Three militants of Lashkar-e-Tayyeba outfit were killed in a chance encounter in Bulbul Nowgam area of south Kashmir's Anantnag district, late on Monday.

Sources said that three militants were traveling in a car in the sensitive south Kashmir region when they were waylaid by a patrolling party of police and Rashtriya rifles. The interception triggered a brief exchange of fire resulting to death of three militants.A top police officer said that the militants died in a chance encounter.Two of the slain militants have been identified as Showkat Lohar and Mudassir, both local residents. The identity of third militants, believed to be a Pakistani, was not ascertained.

The slain militants were involved in killing of a police party including Station House Officer of Achabal Feroz Ahmad Dar in June.
