‘Risk in Kerala terror men’s transportation’

The Director General of Police, Kerala has informed the State Home Department that there is immense security risk in transporting terror men including Thadiyantavide Nazeer, prime accused in the Bangalore bombings case, from the Thiruvananthapuram prison they are lodged in presently to the designated NIA Court in Kochi for trial proceedings.

The DGP’s letter, written on the basis of a report of the Additional DGP (Prisons), says that the transfer of these persons for trial proceedings risky as there was chance of attacks on them on the way. Nazeer and ten other accused were recently transferred to Central Prison in Thiruvananthapuram from the jail in Viyyur, Thrissur due to security reasons.

Nazeer and the other accused will have to be transported to the NIA Court in Kochi from the Thiruvananthapuram prison covering over 225 km on a daily basis once the trial proceedings in the case pertaining to recruitment of Kerala youths into Pakistan-based terror outfits begin on January 27.  The letter says that the accused should be shifted to a prison in Ernakulam district in order to avoid security risk. Another suggestion the DGP has made is that necessary arrangements for conducting the trail should be arranged at the Central Prison at Viyyur, Thrissur.
