Stressing on the need to expedite works being carried out under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, DS Garbyal, the district magistrate, Almora, said that the role of the BDOs is vital to successfully execute the MNREGA programme.
All BDOs need to put in their best efforts to effectively carry out development works under this scheme. The district magistrate also directed the authorities concerned to provide jobs to those who have been granted job cards as per guidelines. More importantly, Garbyal further said that to provide job cards to the needy should be the top priority of the officials.
Emphasising on the need to ensure cent per cent use of funds allocated and released for development works, the district magistrate also directed the BDOs to utilise the funds released to them under different heads till February 28. He also asked them to submit the status report thereafter. The housing sector seems to be one of the top priorities for the district administration.
