Bhopal: An international seminar on cooperatives will be held at Bhopal on February 9 and 10. An organising committee headed by Cooperatives Minister Gaurishankar Bisen has also been constituted for this purpose.
A meeting of the committee will be chaired by Cooperatives Minister Gaurishankar Bisen at sixth floor of Apex Bank in Bhopal on December 8 at 10 am. The State Government has nominated Chairman of Madhya Pradesh Dairy Federation Subhash Mandge as the Member-Secretary of the organising committee.
United Nations Organisation has announced to observe 2012 as International Year of Cooperatives. This seminar has assumed added importance with this in view. Over 300 national and international representatives of cooperatives will take part in the seminar to be held at Vidhan Sabha auditorium.
Welfare programme for all sections: Minister
Bhopal: Tribal Welfare Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah has said that the State Government has launched welfare schemes for all the sections of society. People's representatives should play an effective role in ensuring benefit of these schemes to the needy persons. Kunwar Shah was addressing a general meeting of Khalwa Janpad Panchayat in Khandwa district recently.
He instructed to convene meetings of various committees of Janpad Panchayat every month invariably.
The Tribal Welfare Minister informed that a lady doctor will soon be posted at Khalwa Government Hospital and an air-conditioned ambulance will also be made available. He instructed officers to organise Jan-Sunwai at Gram Panchayat-level on every Tuesday. He instructed to collect information about the out-of-order transformers and repair them within a week. He informed that the benefit of Kapil Dhara Yojna will now be given to marginal farmers of backward and general categories also. The meeting also discussed implementation of Mukhyamantri Awas Yojna and arrangements for fairs to be held in the rural areas of Khalwa Janpad Panchayat.
Rs 40 lakh granted for talented stidents
Bhopal: A sum of `40 lakh has been allocated for making free of cost education available to talented students of general category under Vikramaditya Yojna in the state for the year 2011-12. There is provision under the scheme to either give exemption or waive the fees of poor talented students studying in colleges.
A sum of `10 lakh each has been allocated respectively to Regional Additional Directors Higher Education, Indore, Gwalior, Rewa and Jabalpur. Funds will be released by the Regional Additional Directors to government colleges as per their demands.
Govt college gets Rs 34.68 lakh grant
Bhopal: A sum of` 34.68 lakh has been released for the construction of building of Government College, Pohri in Shivpuri district.
According to Commissioner Higher Education, a total sum of `1,74,68,000 had been sanctioned for the construction of the building. Out of it,`1.40 crore has been allocated earlier. Releasing the rest of`34.68 lakh, Commissioner Higher Education has instructed the principal of the concerning government college to ensure construction work within time-limit.
Entries invited for Vishnu Kumar Sammans
Bhopal: Entries have been invited for three State-level Vishnu Kumar Sammans. Entries for the year 2011 can be submitted by December 31. Under the three Sammans constituted in the memory of social worker and founder of Seva Bharti, late Vishnu Kumar, persons making outstanding contributions to the betterment of Tribals, Scheduled Castes and Women and Children are honoured.
Vishnu Kumar Anusuchit Jati Samaj Seva Samman is given to a person or organisation for doing excellent social work for scheduled castes.
Similarly, Janjatiya Samaj Seva Samman is bestowed on a person or organisation for putting in excellent work for welfare and upliftment of tribals while Vishnu Kumar Mahila-Bal Kalyan Samman is given for excellent work for welfare for women and children.

Kamal Chawla bags bronze in World Snooker Championship
Bhopal: Kamal Chawla of Madhya Pradesh has won bronze medal in World Snooker Championship held at Bangalore recently. Kamal Chawla is fifth seed in international ranking.
Kamal Chawla called on Director Sports Shailendra Shrivastava here on Wednesday.
On the occasion, Shailendra Shrivastava congratulated him and encouraged him for his better performance. He also assured him to make available sports facilities in future also.
It may be mentioned that Kamal Chawla has been honoured with top sports award 'Vikram Award' of Madhya Pradesh government this year. Earlier, the Sports Department had sent Kamal Chawla to London for special coaching.
V-C of Indore-based university resigns
Bhopal: Vice-Chancellor of Indore's Devi Ahilyabai Vishwa Vidyalaya (DAVV) Professor PK Mishra today resigned from his post.
Mishra's resignation has been accepted by Madhya Pradesh Governor and Chancellor of the State Universities Ram Naresh Yadav, Raj Bhawan sources said here. DAVV Rector, Professor Raj Kamal, has been asked to take charge as Acting Vice-Chancellor, they added. The reason behind Mishra's resignation was not known.
Youth commits suicide in indore
Indore: A youth allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself here, police said on Wednesday. The 18-year-old Sumit was found hanging at a place in Vinoba Nagar locality here last night, police said adding that his parents suspect a foul play in the incident. Meanwhile, police also recovered a body of an unidentified man from the Gambhir river near Kishanganj area here.
Ajay Singh gives clarification in mining lease comment
Bhopal: Leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Assembly Ajay Singh on Wednesday clarified that he had not mentioned Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh's name in connection with the allotment of a mining lease in Sidhi district of the state.
Congress had yesterday that NAD Private Limited, which allegedly had connections with Raman Singh, was allotted a mine in Sidhi district. However, Raman Singh had denied the allegation. "My relatives have no direct and indirect relations with the mines in question," he told.
Ajay Singh on Wednesday said that he had not mentioned Singh's name in this connection. "I have not mentioned the name of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister on the issue. But I had definitely said that mines were allotted in haste by the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh for persons with Chhattisgarh connection," he told media persons.
He was answering a query about media reports, which mentioned that
he had levelled allegations against Raman Singh on the issue. He, however, said that since the allotment was done in haste and suspected that it might be connected with some highly-placed persons in Chhattisgarh.
