MP to hold Urban Street Vendors Panchayat

Bhopal: The Urban Administration and Development Department will organise Urban Street Vendors Panchayat at Chief Minister House on January 23. About 3,000 street venders will take part in the event out of which 2,000 will be from various districts of the State and 1,000 from Bhopal Municipal Corporation area. The Urban Administration and Development department has instructed all Project Officers posted in the districts and District Urban Development Agencies to bring 40 each street vendors form their respective districts to the Urban Street Vendors Panchayat. Bhopal Municipal Corporation Commissioner Manish Singh has been appointed as the nodal officer for making lodging arrangements for the participants.

Govt issues notification to protect vendors

Bhopal: The State Government has published notification of Madhya Pradesh Path Par Vikray Karne Walon Ki Jeevika Ka Sanrakshan Aur Vikray Ka Viniyaman Adhiniyan-2011 (Protection of Livelihood of Street Vendors in Madhya Pradesh and Sale Regulation Act-2011) in Madhya Pradesh Gazette (Extraordinary) on January 4, 2012. The objective of the Act is to protect interests of street vendors selling various goods, articles of daily use, earthen pots and other material on the roads in the urban areas. The Act covers various categories of street vendors. Urban bodies will arrange places in identified area under their respective jurisdictions for carrying out their business to street vendors after their registration. A City Sales Committee will also be constituted in every urban body for implementation on the Act’s provisions.

UAD Minister in Delhi

New Delhi: Urban Administration and Development (UAD) Minister Babulal Gaur called on Union Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Minister Kumari Selja during his Delhi visit on Friday and congratulated her for the initiative of Rajiv Housing Scheme started for the welfare of the urban poor. During the meeting, the UAD Minister informed the Union Minister that six cities of Madhya Pradesh including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Ujjain and Sagar have been selected under the first phase of Rajiv Housing Scheme. Out of these, Slum-free City Plans to the tune of Rs7174.45 crore and Pilot DPR worth Rs222.17 crore for four cities — Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior and Sagar — have been forwarded to the Union Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Ministry for approval. Slum-free City Plans and Pilot DPRs of Bhopal and Ujjain will also be forwarded soon. Gaur urged the Union Government to approve Slum-free City Plans and Pilot DPRs of four cities at the earliest and release funds. Union Minister Kumari Selja assured Gaur of early action in this connection. During his Delhi visit, Gaur also called on former Deputy Prime Minister and BJP Parliamentary Party president LK Advani, former Union Minister Ananth Kumar and BJP’s National Organising Secretary Ramlal.

Health initiatives in State yield results

Bhopal: Various activities undertaken to nourish malnutrition-hit children in the State have yielded very good results. Due to efforts made during one month, 287 children have got rid of malnutrition in Sagar district. The malnourished children were provided nutritious diet, milk and sweet limes by citizens and people’s representatives. Ten health camps were organised for nourishing malnourished children under Project Sankalp of Integrated Child Development Project where they were provided with free medicines. The seriously malnourished children were treated at Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres (NRCs) and were given nutritious diet over there. Anganwadi workers visited the people door-to-door and noted the weight of malnourished children. During the home meeting with parents, improvement in children was also reviewed.

Cong wins Mandu Nagar panchayat poll

Dhar: Congress defeated the ruling BJP in the Mandu Nagar Panchayat elections on Friday. Congress candidate for the chairman's post, Mahesh Thakur defeated BJP's Jairam Gavar with a margin of 140 votes to wrest Nagar Pachayat body from the BJP, election officer Arun Kumar Rawal told reporters. BJP was in power in the Mandu Nagar Panchayat prior to the elections. Out of the total 15 wards, Congress bagged eight, while BJP emerged victorious in seven seats, he added.

Recertification carried out at BHEL

Bhopal: Bureau Veritas Certification audit team carried out recertification audit of BHEL Bhopal, for checking compliance of Quality Management System as per ISO 9001-2008. Shashank Kalambkar, Leader of the Bureau Veritas Certification audit team and members SM Kulkarni, VN Tripathi, N Ramanathan and Paresh Mistry extensively audited 74 departments from January 10 to 13, 2012. The closing meeting was chaired by SS Gupta, Executive Director, BHEL Bhopal and attended by senior executives of the Unit. In his address SS Gupta said that efforts should be made for continual improvement in all departments. JK Bhati, GM (Quality) stressed upon the need for corrective and preventive action and documenting tem. BHEL Bhopal has been recommended for continuation of certification by Bureau Veritas audit team for Quality Management System as per ISO 9001: 2008.

2 nabbed in home guard jawan murder case

Gwalior: In a recent development in the home guard jawan murder case, two persons have been nabbed by the police on Friday. According to information, notorious miscreant Ratti Gurjar, who was nabbed by the police, informed during his interrogation the names of the miscreants who were involved in the murder of Jitendra Parihar, a home guard jawan. He also added that the murder was committed by licensed rifle, which had been hired by them. Earlier, three armed miscreants had fired at police team in the industrial area of Maharajpura under Maharajpura police station at night. In the firing Parihar was killed. The police also arrested Ratti Gurjar’s associate. During the interrogation the name of third associate was also divulged. The third miscreant has been absconding after the incident and seach operation is on to nab him.

Nurses gherao office of Dean

Gwalior: Expressing angry over non payment for three months, above hundred nurses belonging to Kamlaraja JA hospital other departments staged a gherao at the dean’s office and submitted a three-point memorandum to Dean Amrita Mehrotra. According to information, the protesting nurses demanded payment arrear of Bharama Swaroop Committee. They also demanded woolen sweaters given to them every three years. While submitting the memorandum the nurses said that if their demands are not conceded they would go on strike. Mehrotra assured them to pay them soon and remove the anomalies of arrear. A team of doctors of the Family Welfare Ministry also inspected trauma center of JAH. The assistant superintendent of JAH Kamal Bhadauria said that the team would inspect the arrangement of trauma centre in afternoon.
