Minister of State for Scheduled Castes Welfare and Minister in-charge of the Chhatarpur district Harishankar Khatik ensured to expedite the development works in Gram Panchayats following implementation of Panch Parmeshwar Yojna in the State.

Now, Gram Panchayats will receive adequate lump sum funds for the development on the basis of their respective populations, said the Minister while addressing a function at Chhatarpur, where Panch Parmeshwar Yojna was formally launched, on Friday.

Khatik said that Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojna has been introduced keeping the importance of the rural roads in mind. Now, efforts will be undertaken to link smallest villages with main roads.

Referring to the Panch Parmeshwar Yojna, Khatik said that besides development, beautification works will be taken up in villages. He instructed the officials concerned to give special attention to ensure quality of construction works.

The Minister further said that Panchayat Secretaries indulging in irregularities will be punished and sent to jail.

The function was also addressed by MLAs Lalita Yadav and Shri Ramdayal Ahirwar and Bundelkhand Development Authority chairman Umesh Shukla. On the occasion, Khatik distributed cheques to Gram Panchayats for development works.

Meanwhile, the Minister took Midday Meal with children at the school of village Maharajpur in Tikamgarh district. He also enquired the children about their studies and hostel facilities.

Khatik honoured Maharajpur village sarpanch Sona Bai. He said that women panchayat members should be encouraged for participation in the development process.

The Minister urged the villagers to strengthen the concept of Panch Parmeshwar. He dedicated seven additional rooms of Maharajpur Middle School and laid the foundation stone of a 170-metre long CC road.
