Madhya Pradesh emerged as overall champion with 100 points in the 30th National Senior Taekwondo Championship. Madhya Pradesh stood first in men’s category and second in women’s category in the championship.

Madhya Pradesh’s international players Latika Bhandari and Arti Khakhal won gold medals in women’s category and Abrar Khan and Jaswant Singh in men’s category. It is for the fifth consecutive time that Madhya Pradesh has emerged as the national champion. Earlier, Madhya Pradesh had emerged as champion at the national championships held in Haryana, Bengaluru, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.

Madhya Pradesh’s five players including Latika Bhandari (bantamweight), Arti Khakhal (featherweight), Abrar Khan (finweight), Jaswant Singh (middleweight) and Arjun Rawat (flyweight) were also selected for national coaching camp. This camp will be held at Bengaluru in March 2012. All the five players are members of State Taekwondo Academy.

In the championship, Madhya Pradesh’s women players Dronadula and Priya Devi won bronze medals in heavyweight and lightweight categories respectively and men’s players Arjun Rawat and Rahul Malik in flyweight and lightweight categories respectively.
