Bhopal's Archbishop Leo Cornelio lauded the efforts of the Government and Church officials, while expressing his heartfelt gratitude on the release of Indian priest Tom Uzhunnalil from the clutches of terrorist organisation IS.

He said that, it is the result of better relations and co-ordination of Government and Church officialswith other countries that efficient release of the clergy could be possible.

At the same time, he expressed concern over the growing terrorist incidents in the world, saying that many of our Indian people are still employed in the countries which are considered as sensitive for terrorist incidents. Their safety must also be assured.

It is worth mentioning that Fr Tom Uzhunnalil, who hails from Kerala, was abducted in March last year by terror group Islamic State which attacked an old-age home run by Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity in southern Yemeni city of Aden. In December last, a poignant video of the abducted priest was also revealed, in which he appealed for his release.
