Chit fund: Sai Pragati founder-member arrested 

Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of the State Crime Branch on Tuesday arrested Kamalakant Patnaik, founder-member of chit fund firm Sai Pragati Group of Companies, in Bhubaneswar for allegedly duping investors of Rs 100 crore. A non-bailable warrant (NBW) had been issued against him a year ago. Patnaik is currently serving as Traffic Inspector of the Transport Department.

CM flags off Himalayan expedition team  Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday flagged off the second Biju Patnaik Himalayan Expedition at his residence here. The expedition is being organised by the State Government’s Sports and Youth Affairs Department in association with the Tata Steel Adventure Foundation. The mountaineering team comprising 12 men and three women would climb Mt Rudugaira (19,100 ft) in Uttarakhand during their mission. Patnaik handed over flags and wished them luck in their endeavour. The team will be led by legendary mountaineer and first Indian woman to scale Mt Everest Padmashri Bachendri Pal.

Bhubaneswar: Senior Teacher and Academic Supervisor of DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur Pramod Kumar Patra received the Krishna Acharya Award-2017 for his dedicated contributions in the field of education recently.
