Child Labour Protection Day held at Chhatrapur
Brahmapur: The International Child Labour Protection Day was celebrated at ABRSETI, Chhatrapur. Additional District Judge Shikharani Rath and SDJM Jayaprakash Nayak graced as guests. Labour Inspector B Hrusikesh Rao organised the meet. The SDJM said police can book a person for engaging a child as a labourer and stressed on creation of awareness about protection of child labour. The ABRSETI’s Soumaya Ranjan Mohanty made the introductory speech. Certificates were distributed to 30 ladies’ beauty parlour trainees and kits were given away to 35 mushroom women farmers. Andhra Bank FLC Rama Nath Panda delivered a vote of thanks.
B’pur Childline holds signature campaign
Brahmapur: On the occasion of the World Day against Child Labour, the Childline Brahmapur in association with the Indian Society for Rural Development (ISRD) and Railway Child Help Desk held a signature campaign at the Brahmapur railway station on Tuesday. The campaign aimed to create awareness among people about the shameful practices of child trafficking and child labour. The Childline distributed leaflets and other publicity items in the station premises. People from all walks of life participated and spoke against child labour and for its prevention.
Bears kill one, injure another in Nilgiri
Baleswar: In two separate incidents of bear attack in the Nilgiri area on Wednesday, a person died and another was injured. The deceased was identified as Raghunath Singh (55) of village Bhulapadia and injured Santosh Singh (40) is of Mahisapata village.
Jajpur Rd BJP files FIR over Ratna Bhandar keys
Jajpur Road: Jajpur Road BJP leaders on Wednesday lodged an FIR at the police station here against the Chief Minister, Law Minister, Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator and Puri Collector over the missing keys of the Jagannath Temple Ratna Bhandar. Among others, BJP Yuva Morcha district president Ajodhyanath Jena, Media Cell secretary Dushmanta Rout, leaders Arun Das, Niranjan Ghadai, Parthasarathi Ghadai, Manoj Behera, Soumyajit Jena and Biswa Ranjan Pattanayak were present.

Jajpur Road: The ‘Udayabata’ magazine observed the World Environment Day here under chairmanship of its editor Dusmant Rout recently. Twin city students shine in Olympiad Awards
Bhubaneswar: Twin city students have made their parents proud by garnering International Rank in the SOF Olympiad examination in which million of students participated from over 45,000 schools in 30 countries during 2017-18. A total of 66,039 students participated from Bhubaneswar and 21,047 from Cuttack. International Rank-1 was achieved by Bhavesh Patra of Class-IV of the Mothers Public School in Mathematics Olympiad and Arihant Tripathy of Class-VII of the Sai International School bagged gold medal and Rs 50,000 cash each. From Cuttack in International Mathematics Olympiad, International Rank-1 was bagged by Ansuman Abhijit Jena of Class-1 of the St Xavier’s Public School.
FIITJEE students excel in JEE Adv
Bhubaneswar: Students of the FIITJEE Bhubaneswar-Cuttack excelled once again in JEE Advanced 2018 producing State topper for the fourth consecutive year. Sarthak Behera, a student of FIITJEE Bhubaneswar centre, has bagged top position in Odisha with All India Rank (AIR) 82. He is also NTSE Scholar and KVPY Fellow (AIR 4), and has cleared INMO, NSEP, NSEC and NSEA. Similarly, Chirag Mohapatra bagged AIR 143; Spandan Senapati bagged AIR 191, Sankalp Baliarsingh scored AIR 723, Sanket Kumar Tripathy scored 882 and Abhishek Kejriwal scored 975. FIITJEE Bhubaneswar centre head Ranajoy Bardhan congratulated the students.

Bhubaneswar: The KTM, European racing legend, conducted a breath-taking KTM stunt show in Cuttack and Angul recently to showcase the mind-blowing stunt rides and tricks from the professional stunt riders on the KTM Duke bikes. Till now, the KTM stunt show has been organised in Ahmedabad, Kanchipuram, Coimbatore, Chennai, Bhubaneswar, Brahmapur, Baleswar and many other towns.
