Two bike-borne youths intercepted the company car near Satsang Vihar, close to the Utkal University and snatched the cash beg fron inside the car after breaking the window screen. The accountant of the company and another staff were going to a bank located in Bapujinagar to deposit the cash and drafts.
According to the Sahid Nagar police, the miscreants looted around Rs 12 lakh in cash. Additional Commissioner of Police BC Mishra said they have started investigation into the incident with a their technical team looking into the case.The black Pulsar gang has struck again. Barely three days after the sensational Rs 13 lakh loot, the gang on Sunday pounced on an NGO executive and made away with Rs 3.86 lakh near Stewart School under Nayapali police limit.
Cocking a snook at the Commissionerate Police, the Pulsar-borne miscreants pulled off the robbery in broad daylight at the crowded thoroughfare.
According to police, project coordinator of Adhikar Micro Finance, Debarudha Abardha, withdrew Rs 3.86 lakh from CRP branch of the Axis Bank at about 10.30 am and was going towards Delta Square in a bike carrying the cash in a bag. Two miscreants, riding a Pulsar, came from the front and the pillion-rider made a futile attempt to snatch the bag.
As he failed to get the cash bag in the first attempt, he kicked the bike of Abardha, who lost balance and the bike skidded. Abardha’s right hand was seriously injured, possibly with multiple fractures. The miscreants took away the bag and fled the spot within no time.
Police have intensified checking of vehicles by erecting barricades at different strategic points in the City. Hunt for the miscreants is on.
