75% primary schools have no playgrounds

As many as 61, 98,025 children are now studying between Class I and Class VII in total 54,771 primary schools and 12,55,280 students reading in total 9,873 high schools in the State.

Of the primary schools, 13,416 schools have playgrounds and 41,355 (75.50% of the total) have no such fields. Similarly, out of 5,016 high schools running under the State Government, 2,219 schools have no playgrounds of their own. As many as 15,975 schools have no kitchen rooms.

These were all revealed from the information furnished by School and Mass Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra in response to a question of BJD MLA Priyadarshi Mishra.

According to the information, out of 101 Government primary schools operating in the Bhubaneswar North Assembly area, 59 schools have no playgrounds. Similarly, 59 high schools operating in the area have no play grounds. Similarly, 26 primary and upper primary schools have no kitchen rooms.
