IIT holds live counselling for JEE rankers in city

As many as 190 participants joined an Open House Day and interactive session organised by the IIT Bhubaneswar for JEE Advanced 2017 rankers and prospective JEE students for 2018 at its Argul campus here on Sunday.

About 170 students took part in person and 20 through Skype or phone including students and guardians.

A question-and-answer session was also held in which students, parents from Odisha as well from other States took part. The Bhubaneswar SBI Chief Manager attended a special seminar and appraised the participants about various possible loan schemes available to prospective UG students and emphasised on the bank’s Vidyalakshmi scheme.

IIT Bhubaneswar Director Prof RV Rajakumar said special attention was paid to girl students. He further said girl students were also counselled by the JEE help desk team to fill as many choices as possible to maximise their chances of getting a seat in IITs. Extra supernumerary seats for girl students would start from 2018.

The IIT Bhubaneswar would also continue to conduct Reporting Centre (RC) activity for JEE Advanced 2017-qualified candidates at its campus, Argul by which the candidates allotted seats in any of the IITs can do their reporting, document verification at IIT Bhubaneswar. The dates of RC and counselling are announced on the website http://josaa.nic.in, informed Rajakumar.

Students and parents expressed happiness on the initiative of IIT Bhubaneswar in educating the students as well the parents on various technicalities in IIT education, JEE admission process and general queries on various programmes.

Among others, Student Affairs Dean Prof VR Pedireddi, Academic Affairs Dean Prof NC Sahoo and IITBBS, JEE Chairman Dr C Bhamidipati were present.
