Lenin statue demolition in Tripura decried

The Odisha State units of Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)), Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation, Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) on Tuesday condemned the demolition of Lenin's statue in Tripura by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activists on Sunday after the BJP won the Assembly elections.

The parties’ leaders in a joint statement said the RSS has exposed itself as being undemocratic, intolerant and monopolistic by damaging the statue of a great statesman. They also said that the Tripura people had not given permission to break the statue.

The statement signatories, Dibakar Nayak (CPI), Janardan Pati (CPI(M), Yudhisthir (CPI(ML Liberation) and Dhurjati Das (SUCI(Communist) said violence, riots, hooliganism and killing people in politics have increased after the Modi Government came to power by making false assurances.
