Week-long Raja fest held at Jeypore

The Basumati, a Jeypore-based socio-cultural organisation, organised a week-long Raja Mahotsav in both Katki and tribal ways at Jeypore.

Various programmes like Odishi dance, modern dance, Odia Antakshyari, Odia poetry recital and competitions on Jhoti, Poda  Pitha , Raja Doli, Pana and Puchi were held. A large number of girls participated in the event. A book titled ‘Basumati’ was released on the occasion. 

A special competition called ‘Raja Queen’ was held on the occasion. Puja Sahu was adjudged as the Raja Queen 2017. Secretary Chandramani Barik and Smruti Ranjan Barik and Basumati members coordinated the programme.

Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, former MLA Rabi Narayan Nanda, Gupta Prasad Dash, Muna Tripathy, Kadambani Tripathy, Bishnu Prasad Patra, Maheswar Nayak, Muna Rath, Prakash Dash, Shanti Raj Khosla  attended the programmes, among others .

Various tribal folk music and Katki culture programmes enthralled spectators. Social workers like Gouri Shankar, Bhagi Mohanty and Kullamani Samal were felicitated with the Basumati Samman.
