Governor releases book

Chandigarh: Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki has released the book “Social Work Intervention with Speech and Hearing Impaired” at Raj Bhawan here, authored by Dr Sharanjeet Kaur, in the presence of Indresh, prominent thinker and senior RSS functionary. The Governor congratulated Kaur for her attempt and wished her success for her future endeavors.

Navjot Sidhu releases Gurleen Khaira’s book

Chandigarh: While releasing a book penned by OET trainer, soft-skill trainer, and career counsellor Gurleen Khaira, Punjab Local Government, Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister, Navjot Singh Sidhu said that he is elated that a daughter of Punjab who is a four-time National Awardee, has taken such an initiative which would prove to be a milestone in helping the nursing professionals. Author Gurleen Khaira said that OET is an English language test that is designed for health professionals who seek to register and practice in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Singapore, and Dubai.

Haryana to increase salary of employees

Chandigarh: With a view to bring the salaries of senior employees at par with that of junior counterparts,  Haryana government will give the benefit of stepping up of pay to such employees appointed before January 1, 2006 in different departments in the state. This decision will benefit about 10,000 employees to the tune of Rs 70 crore. Finance Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu said that Chief Minister, Manohar Lal has approved a proposal to this effect. 

Punjab to celebrate 64th All India Cooperative Week

Chandigarh: Punjab Government will organize the 64th All India Cooperative week celebrations to promote the strength of cooperative in today’s world of digitalisation under the theme of “Good governance and professionalism through cooperatives” from November 14. Rana KP Singh, Speaker, Punjab Vidhan Sabha would inaugurate the function as chief guest at Verka Plant, Mohali.

Citizens Awareness Group demands Motors Vehicle Bill

Chandigarh: On the occasion of children’s day, Citizens Awareness Group has urged the Central Government to save the precious lives of children on roads by passing the Motors Vehicles Bill 2017, in the upcoming winter session in Parliament. Chairman of the Group, Surinder Verma, said, “In 2016, more than 10,000 children died in road accidents in India. Children are the future of nation and their safety and protection should be the priority.” The Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill 2017 has already been cleared by Lok Sabha in the last session and is due for passage by the Rajya Sabha.

CGRF to hear public grievances

Chandigarh: The Chairman Consumer Grievances Redressal Forum (CGRF) of Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam along with the members of the Forum  would take the proceedings of the forum in the office of XEN ‘OP’ Division Panchkula # 517-18, Power Colony Industrial area phase-II Panchkula to redress the grievances of the consumers and to entertain new complaints from 12:30 to 2 pm on November 17. A spokesman said that the CGRF would take all grievances or complaints of consumers like billing problem, voltage complaints, problems in metering among others.

e-Auction to be held

Chandigarh: Haryana Government will conduct e-Auction for grant of mining lease for extraction of stone along with associated minor mineral from Dadam mine of district Bhiwani. A spokesman said that the Dadam block would be auctioned in Bhiwani. The e-Auction would commence on December 6 at 9 am  and the bidding process would close on December 7. The block would be auctioned for a period of 10 years. The bidders could download the auction notice or documents from the portalhttps://haryanaeprocurement.gov.in or from the Haryana Government website www.haryana.gov.in.

CATCON to begin at IIT Ropar

Ropar: Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar) will witness gathering of internationally renowned delegates from India, UK, China, Australia, Japan, UAE, Sweden, and South Africa for 3rd International Conference on Condition Assessment Techniques in Electrical Systems (CATCON). The conference will be held from November 16–18 and is technically co-sponsored by IEEE Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society (DEIS), IEEE Delhi Section and DEIS Chapter of IEEE Kolkata Section.

Punjab Open Ladies Amateur Golf tourney from today

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Golf Club will organise the region’s biggest ladies amateur tournament, 24th Punjab Open Ladies Amateur Golf Championship from November 14 to 16. Around 75 ladies from Delhi, Leh, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune Bangalore, Punjab and the tricity will compete in various categories for prestigious trophies and prizes. Winner in the seniors category shall receive the Neelu Chopra Trophy.  Late Neelu Chopra was the Lady Captain of the club and was a passionate and avid golfer and the trophy is given away each year by her family in her memory. The gold, bronze and silver categories will see players in all age groups playing alongside each other, the youngest being less than 10 and a Golden super senior girl stands tall and proud at 80.

Draw of flat numbers held

Chandigarh: Housing Board, Haryana held draw of flat numbers of 204 houses at Sector-9 and 9A, Bahadurgarh in district Jhajjar.  Board’s Secretary, Randhir Singh said that Board had constructed 618 triple-story flats at Sector-9 and 9A, Bahadurgarh. Out of these, 216 flats had already been allocated and work on remaining 198 flats was going on at a fast speed and these would be allotted in January 2018. These flats costing between Rs six to nine lakh were covered under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY). The allottees could avail benefit of rebate in interest under credit link subsidy of PMAY, he said.

Shiro room inaugurated in Haryana

Chandigarh: Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister Kavita Jain has inaugurated the State’s first Shiro room in Karnal. This has been constructed by the Municipal Corporation, Karnal at a cost of Rs 8 lakh.  Similar Shiro Rooms would also be constructed in other towns of the State, said she adding that the construction of a Shiro room is also a part of Smart City project. The women and lactating mothers would get immense facility in Shiro room.

Tata Motors tops in Customer Service

Chandigarh: Tata Motors grabbed the top position in JD Power 2017 India Customer Service Index (Mass Market) Study in Chandigarh and Ludhiana for after sale experience. The company said it scored the highest score of 913 points out of a total of 1,000 in Chandigarh and scored 895 points out of a total of 1,000 in Ludhiana.

PNB officials perform Gandhigiri to recover dues

Chandigarh: The Punjab National Bank on Monday said Garib Nawaz Hotels Pvt Ltd is running a hotel under the brand name of Hotel Turquoise at Industrial Area Phase-II Chandigarh by availing credit facilities from PNB. A Press statement from the bank said the accounts of the hotel along with group accounts GN Pet and Garib Nawaz Polymers Pvt Ltd are in NPA Category with Punjab National Bank, Sector-22 B, Chandigarh with total group outstanding of around Rs 44 crore. Bank has already issued notice under Section 13(2) for recovery of bank dues. On Monday,  the bank employees under the leadership of PN Khanna LDM and ML Meena Chief Manager peacefully performed Gandhigiri in front of the Hotel to recover bank dues.
