Restore milk price cuts, pay bonus to farmers
Chandigarh: The Leader of Haryana Congress Legislature Party Kiran Choudhry on Wednesday asked the BJP Government to direct the Haryana Dairy Development Co-operative Federation Ltd (Vita) to restore cut in milk prices, pay back Rs 5 per litre bonus taken back from dairy farmers since April 2017, and promote dairy farming by making it a profitable venture.
Former Excise and Taxation Minister said that acting contrary to its avowed policy of encouraging farmers to take to dairy farming and double their income by 2022, the Manohar Lal Khattar Government had brought down the milk rate. Not only this, the “insensitive” BJP Government has also taken back Rs 5 per litre bonus on milk purchased from April to November and slashed the rates by about Rs 5 per litre in the past few months.
mental illness rehab Conference on Dec 9-10
Chandigarh: Government Medical College, Chandigarh (GMCH) Department of Psychiatry, along with Parivartan — a mental health movement — are organising first national conference on December 9-10 on the theme — ‘Support for Caregivers and Persons with mental illness: Innovative Approaches’.
Since the maximum burden of mental illness is on the families who have to provide 24X7 care and suffer the most, the focus of deliberations will be on innovative efforts to improve the mental health of caregivers as well as the patients. The conference will be attended by 250-300 mental health professionals from different parts of the country. Senior mental health professional and care providers will participate in the conference.
HWCDD invites applications for CWC’s dist heads
Chandigarh: Haryana Women and Child Development Department has invited applications from eligible candidates for appointment of chairperson and members of Child Welfare Committee and Members in Juvenile Justice (JJ) Board under the provisions of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act. Spokesperson said that one chairperson each for district Bhiwani, Hisar, Kurukshetra, Narnaul, Panipat, Rewari and Sirsa would be appointed in Child Welfare Committee. Similarly, one member each for Bhiwani, Gurugram, Jind, Yamunanagar, Sirsa and two for Faridabad district would be appointed. In addition, one Member of JJ Board would also be appointed for Jind, Kaithal, Mewat and Panchkula districts.

Chandigarh: Haryana School Education Board, Bhiwani, on Wednesday announced results of State Open School Secondary and Senior Secondary exam held in September 2017. Students can check the results from the official website www.bseh.org.in.
Board chairman Jagbir Singh said that the pass percentage of secondary exam is 25.62 per cent whereas for senior secondary is 23.67 per cent.
In secondary, 52,266 students appeared for the exam out of which 13,390 had passed while 38,876 students got STC. The passing percentage of boys was 26.89 while girls were at 22.91 per cent. The same in rural areas was 26.06 per cent whereas 25.07 per cent students were passed in urban areas.
Workshop for chief vigilance officers on Dec 11
Chandigarh: Haryana State Vigilance Department will organise one-day workshop for all Chief Vigilance Officers (CVO) on December 11 at Chandigarh. Spokesperson said that Chief Minister Manohar Lal would address the workshop. During the workshop, the role, responsibilities and challenges faced by CVO’s would be discussed. Chief Vigilance Officer appointed in each Department or Board or Corporation, would act as nodal officer for all vigilance related matters to root out corruption using preventive and participatory strategies of the respective department or board or corporation, he added.
MCC committee inspects Jandpur pipeline project
Chandigarh: Municipal Corporation Chandigarh’s water supply and sewerage disposal committee visited the site of Phase V and VI water pipeline being executed at Jandpur and Sector-39, water works. The committee inspected the work of pipeline being laid from Jandpur to Chandigarh. The officers informed the committee members that 90 per cent of length of pipeline has been laid. The members also asked the officers regarding completion of civil, mechanical and electrical works at Jandpur, and officers apprised that it will be completed by March 2018. The officers informed that delay in work was due to late handing over of land by Punjab Government.
MCC holds contest under Swachh Survekshan
Chandigarh: Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has conducted competitions amongst schools, hospitals, hotels, markets and wards or mohalla for Swachh ranking under Swachh Survekshan-2018. Among the schools, GGMSSS-18 secured first place, while Civil Hospital Sector-45 topped among the hospitals.
High Court dispensary was first amongst the dispensaries, Lemon Tree Hotel at Industrial Area Phase-I is first amongst hotels or restaurants, Ward No 16 of Sector-20 was best amongst MCC wards, while Sector 33’s market welfare association too secured top place. The winners will be given award and certificate during prize distribution function of Chrysanthemum show, scheduled for December 10.
NITK organising sixth int’l conference on SCC
Kurukshetra: National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra’s Department of Computer Applications is conducting two-day ‘International Conference on Smart Computing and Communication from December 7 to 8.
The conference will bring together experts from smart computing and communication systems community to discuss the timely issue of smart computing and low energy system design. The conference has invited significant attention from national as well as international delegates mainly from Australia, Malaysia and Japan, and has received around 300 research papers, out of which 117 have been selected after rigorous review process.

So far, 61 entries have been received from eight countries with maximum participation from USA, Canada and UK. For the first time, teams from Netherlands and Norway would also contest.

Aye Finance targets loan disbursements of Rs 70 cr
Chandigarh: Aye Finance, the new-age financial company, on Wednesday announced its plans of disbursing loans worth Rs 70 crore in Punjab by March 31, 2018. The MSME lender is present across the State with eight branches, four of which were opened in March this year.
The fast-growing NBFC has already disbursed loans worth Rs 37 crore in the State to 3,600 customers, bringing them in purview of formal lending and enabling their inclusion in the main stream of economy. Before the financial year ends, MSME lender plans to double its disbursement supporting the financial inclusion of a larger number of customers in the State.
