Govt to expedite developmental projects: CM

| | Dharmshala | in Chandigarh

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Friday resolved that all the running development projects in the State would be expedited but reiterated that the projects unveiled by the previous Government in the last six months of its tenure would be reviewed.

In more than an hour long reply to the debate on the Motion of Thanks on Governor’s address, Thakur said that the previous Virbhadra Singh Goverment set a new trend of laying foundation stones without public demand after getting handful grants from the centre. He said those times have passed when people used to get impressed with such allurements and popular public announcements or false promises.

Replying to the comments of CLP leader Mukesh Agnihotri about his sudden elevation to the post of Chief Minister, Thakur said that his elevation to the post of CM came as a surprise, but it was also a coincidence that while Congress had projected Virbhadra Singh as its CM candidate, it selected Mukesh Agnihotri to be the leader of Congress Legislative Party.

Accepting the error in Governor’s address, where he was claimed to be the youngest Chief Minister of the State, Thakur said it was an error.

He said central grants worth Rs 7200 crore were received during 14th Finance Commission but the Congress Government failed to compliment the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his liberal outlook for the State. He pointed out that the State had got only Rs 6000 Cr grant under 13th Finance Commission.

Giving a rebuttal over the comments, that RSS was having a remote control on his Government, Thakur said that Congress itself met with a political accident as it had given gear of its Government in unknown hands and that is why it faced such a debacle in the election.

He said that the previous Government spent only Rs 7 crore to provide unemployment allowance to 20000 youth, while it had to provide employments avenues to 12 lac youth.

He said that providing employment to this large

number was difficult but not impossible and new Government would ensure employment by self employment, creation of jobs in public and private sector.

He said that all Government projects would be expedited under new regime as 63 National highways and Rs 1200Cr for establishment of AIIMS had been sanctioned by the Modi Government  CM said that 62 DPRs under consideration would be completed soon.

Thakur said Gudiya gang rape case and death of Hoshiyar Singh had defamed the peaceful State. He added that it was not possible to say more in such a short period while CBI was investigating the matter. He announced Rs 3 lac from Chief Minister Relief fund to the next kin of Suraj, who died in police custody.

The CM said that no mafia would be spared in the State and Government would require support of opposition to act decisively against the mafia.
