Haryana Govt to organise camps to issue ration cards to nomadic tribes

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal said that the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department would organise camps to issue ration cards to nomadic tribes and to provide identification to them as permanent residents.

The Chief Minister while interacting with representatives of denotified and nomadic tribes from throughout the State said that the Haryana Government is committed towards the welfare of the denotified and nomadic tribes.

A survey had been conducted for castes in backward classes category to get them included in the Scheduled Castes category and on the basis of the survey, amendments would be made. Besides, officers have been deputed at block level to disseminate information pertaining to Government schemes to people belonging to Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and BPL families, he said.

While taking suggestions from people belonging to nomadic tribes for their development, the Chief Minister said that the State Government is sensitive towards the poor.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister of State for Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, Krishan Kumar said that the Government has been working for development of nomadic tribes.

He said that hostels were being opened in 11 districts for students belonging to these tribes and poor children belonging to other castes. Loans up to Rs 1.5 lakh are being given without any guarantee for self-employment, Bedi said.
