Italy’s multi-utility Hera Group has proposed to set up state-of-the-art effluent treatment plant in Punjab. The proposal was forward by a high-level company delegation to the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh during their meeting in London on Tuesday evening.

Hera has evinced interest in setting up an industrial waste conversion project in the state on BOT (built-operate-transfer) basis, a statement issued here said.

The delegation, in their presentation to the Chief Minister, suggested conversion of the industrial waste generated in Punjab’s major cities into energy, facilitating the State’s green transformation and helping it get rid of pollution.

On a suggestion by the Chief Minister, the delegation agreed to conduct a field study to work out a sustainable project. The delegation informed the Chief Minister that the Group would send a technical team soon to Ludhiana and Jalandhar to analyse the nature of effluent discharged from the large number of local industrial units located there and come out with a detailed proposal.
