FIR against judge: Police seek permission from HC

A day after a lady who claimed to be an additional district judge from Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh was captured slapping a policeman in uniform in Premnagar on the outskirts of Dehradun, Dehradun police have written to Allahabad High Court on Wednesday, seeking permission to lodge an FIR against  her.

A video had gone viral on Tuesday in which she was seen thrashing a policeman. SP city PK Rai said on Wednesday that FIR would be lodged after they receive permission from the High Court. As per the norms,  no FIR should be lodged against a judge unless High Court allows the same.

The incident had occurred when two student groups who scuffled over the some issues had been called at the police station to resolve their differences. The judge is the mother of one of the boys who were summoned at the police station.

Meanwhile, after receiving the complaint from Rohan Pathak, native of Lucknow, a case under sections 147, 323 and 504 of IPC was registered against students named Aaditya, Abhijeet, Punit Rai and Mohit aside from 20  unidentified persons in Premnagar police station.

Member of another group, Prabhat Arya, native of Meerut, registered a compliant  following which another case under sections 147, 323, 504, 506 and 427 of IPC against Rohan Pathak, Ayush Sharma, Antriksha Verma and other 12 unidentified persons was lodged in the same police station. Sub-inspector Somveer Singh is investigating both the cases with no arrest being made so far.
