Fodder scam: Yogi Govt orders probe into reports of alleged lobbying in favour of Lalu Yadav

The Yogi Government ordered a probe into allegations of some sympathizers of RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav calling up a CBI special judge in Ranchi to seek a favourable verdict in the fodder scam. This was stated by a government official on Thursday. Divisional Commissioner of Jhansi has been asked to probe the matter.

A tweet from the CM’s office (@CMOfficeUP) said : ‘On the basis of media reports about lobbying in favour of the fodder scam convict, orders have been issued to Commissioner, Jhansi division to carry out a probe and submit a report at the earliest’.

The tweet did not say as who the culprits were and that against whom the Commissioner will probe but the indications are the District Magistrate of Jalaun, Mannan Akhtar and SDM Bhairpal Singh of Jalaun had called up CBI Special Judge Shivpal Singh to seek favours for the RJD chief in the case.

During the proceedings of the case in Ranchi on January 4, the CBI judge, without naming the people, had stated, “Laluji, we are getting a lot of references and calls for you.”

Later some media reports said that the person who called up the CBI judge was Mannan Akhtar, who is posted as DM in Jalaun.

Akhtar, however, refuted the charges saying that he met the said Judge in November when he had come to Jalaun in connection with a land dispute. “I never spoke to CBI Special Judge Shivpal Singh over phone,” he asserted.

“How can someone level such serious allegations without any evidence? I belong to Assam and am working in Uttar Pradesh. I have no connection of any kind with Laluji,” he clarified.
