| | Lucknow | in Lucknow

Two days before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrives in New Delhi for a five-day visit to India starting January 14, Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Jawwad from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to snap diplomatic ties with the Jewish nation.

The visit is a reciprocal gesture from Israel to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who visited Israel in July 2017. Modi is so far the only Indian premier to have visited Israel.

Criticising the impending visit of the Israeli Premier, Maulana Jawwad said that incidents of terror strike have increased in India after Israeli ts embassy was opened in Delhi.

After upgradation of diplomatic relations with Israel in 1991, the latter opened its embassy in Delhi.  Earlier, Israel only had an office of Consul General in Mumbai.

Stressing that Israel could never be a friend of India, Jawwad said that if India wanted to deal with the menace of terrorism on its soil, then it should severe all ties with Israel as the Jewish nation was the fountainhead of global terror. “Israel and its agents trained by its intelligence agencies were behind incidents of terror across the globe,” he claimed.

The cleric said appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to snap diplomatic ties with Israel as it was a sponsor of terrorism. Moreover, he reminded that India had always supported the cause of oppressed people of Palestine.
