Wanted criminal Shamshad gunned down : Police

Saharanpur Police claimed to have gunned down wanted criminal Shamshad in an encounter on Monday morning. Only last Thursday, Shamshad absconded from police custody in Gagalhedi area and was carrying a bounty of Rs 12,000 for his arrest. The deceased was a history-sheeter with over two dozen cases registered against his name.          

As per reports, Shamshad of Sherpur suffered bullet injuries during an encounter with SWAT and local police teams in Biharigarh locality on Monday morning. One of his aides however managed to escape. 

The police claimed that Shamshad had threatened local doctor Piyush Sanawar of Saharanpur and demanded Rs 15 lakh as protection money last Saturday. 

Meanwhile in Muzaffarnagar, the police managed to nab three criminals while they were reportedly planning to loot Punjab National Bank branch in Budhana area on Monday. 

A police team closed in on the gang after which an encounter ensued in which one of them suffered bullet injuries and three were nabbed. The arrested have been identified as Shoaib, Shadab and Zahid of Muzaffarnagar. The police recovered two motorcycles from them.
