DPS-R’s Saloni Mishra qualifies for Judo nationals

After the recently concluded State-level Judo championship held at Bhatapara, Saloni Mishra of Delhi Public School (DPS), Raipur has qualified for the nationals to be held at Warangal in Telangana, a school Press release informed on Wednesday.

Among the strong contingent sent to represent the school in the open state level Judo championship, besides Saloni, were Soham Sharma and Paridhi Soni. They bagged a Silver each while Meenakshi Nair, Chhavi Katre, and Supriya Naidu also returned with a Bronze each.

A total of 15 students received Gold and Silver medals in CBSE Far East Zone Judo Championship held at Krishna Public School between September 8 to 10, it informed.

Those who bagged gold were Bhavika Jain, Avi Katre, Aarya Singh, Mayuri Nair, Saloni Mishra, Sasmit Purseth, Ishan Nikunj, Lomas Sona, Sarthak Tyagi, Chhavi Katre, Soham Sharma, Supriya Naidu and those adjudged runners up were Jayesh Kumar, Paridhi Soni and Meenakshi Nair making a place for themselves in the CBSE Judo National Championship to be held in November at DAV Public School, Secunderabad.

Adulation messages for the entire squad were sent by Pro Vice Chairman, Baldeo Singh Bhatia and senior members of the management committee.

The Principal, Raghunath Mukherjee, also showered words of praise saying martial art for girls is necessary to overcome fear, develop confidence and thus decide the best way to handle a situation. “I am proud that our students are growing to be real fighters.”
