Gujarat set to woo more tourists from Chhattisgarh

Gujarat is all set to woo more tourists from Chhattisgarh. The Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd (TCGL) is already in the process of renovating its Tourist Information Bureau office in Raipur, officials informed.

Notably, under the Central Government's new scheme "Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat", Chhattisgarh has also been paired with Gujarat.

Under this scheme, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat are also having exchange of art, culture, education, literature, and traditions.

Notably, Chhattisgarh exchanged MoUs worth Rs 12 crore for development of world-class tourist facilities during ‘Incredible India Tourism Investors’ Summit (IITIS) 2016’ organised by

the Union Ministry of Tourism in partnership with Confederation of Indian Industry and the Tourism Finance Corporation of India from September 21 to 23, 2016 in New Delhi to promote investments in Tourism sector in India.

Several key announcements were made at the valedictory session of the Summit.

The States like Gujarat, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Uttarakhand and Chattisgarh exchanged 86 MoUs during the session and many more are in the pipeline, aggregating close to Rs 15,000 crore, officials informed.

At the summit, Gujarat exchanged MoUs close to Rs 9,000 crore, Karnataka with  Rs 2,600 crore, Rajasthan with Rs 1,000 crore ,Uttarakhand with Rs 500 crore and Chhattisgarh with Rs 12 crore.

The task also involves development and implementation of technology framework for Home stays operations  and also strategy, planning and for better Home stay service delivery.

On the other hand, the Union Ministry of Tourism has received the concept proposals for development of Ramayana Circuit from Chhattisgarh Government, officials informed.

The Ramayana circuit comprises — Dandakaranya Circuit (Sheorinarayan-Rajim-Sihawa Saptrishi Ashram) and Eco-Circuit: (Hasdeo Bango-Khuntaghat-Kodar-Tandula-Madamsilli-Dudhawa-Kosarteda-Dalpat Sagar) from  Chhattisgarh Government.

Moreover, based on the proposal submitted by the State Government of Chhattisgarh, the Ministry has sanctioned the project ‘Development of Tribal Tourism Circuit in Jashpur- Kunkuri-Mainpat- Ambikapur-Maheshpur- Ratanpur-Kurdar- Sarodadadar-Gangrel- Kondagaon-Nathyanawagaon- Jagdalpur-Chitrakoot- Tirthgarh in Chhattisgarh’ under Swadesh Darshan Scheme in 2015-16 with the central financial assistance of Rs 99.94 crore.

The projects are sanctioned subject to availability of funds, submission of suitable detailed project reports, adherence to scheme guidelines and utilization of funds released earlier, it informed.

Notably, the Central Government has put up the anticipated timeline for completion of the Tribal Tourism Circuit in Chhattisgarh to be 2019-20. The Tribal Tourism Circuit will provide an opportunity to the tourists to witness and experience tribal culture and traditions in Chhattisgarh, officials informed.

The key components for development under the project are ‘Ethnic Tourist Village’ and ‘Ethnic Tourist Development’, Destination Development and Wayside amenities.The project would be developed by Chhattisgarh Tourism Board (CTB).

With an objective to take tourism in Chhattisgarh to the next level, the Chhattisgarh government is also planning to take a series of initiatives for developing ‘Highway Tourism’ in the State.
