Two minors killed, four hurt as SUV overturns

Two minor boys were killed and four others injured when a SUV carrying members of a marriage party overturned near Zora village of Raipur district, senior police official said on Thursday.

The members of Kahtri family of Kota area of Raipur city had gone to Odisha in a SUV bearing registration number CG-04, DM-1198  to attend a marriage ceremony of the groom Sanat Khatri, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) (City) Vijay Agrawal said.

While they were returning, the vehicle driver who was groom’s brother identified as Santosh Khatri lost control over the wheels after one of the tyres of the vehicle burst following which it overturned and spun off the road near Zora village, the ASP said.

A police team rushed to the spot on getting information about the mishap, Agrawal further said.

The injured including groom Sanat Khatri, bride Saubhagini, groom’s brother Santosh and his aunt Chandrama were later referred to a private hospital in Raipur for treatment, the ASP added.

Those killed in the mishap were identified as Sagar Banjare s/o Amardas Banjare (12) and Tushar Banjare s/o Amardas Banjare (10), the ASP said.

The deceased who were killed in road accident while going to school were real brothers, the ASP further said.

A case has been registered in  connection with the incident, he added.
