Derailment of a G M Special train and blockade of a track by passengers upset over delay in running a local trains and Saktipunj both the up and down express lead to disruption of train services between Gomoh -Barkakana and Dhanbad -Barkakana in Dhanbad division on Thursday.
According to reports, the last compartment of the G.M special train derailed as the train just left Amlo block halt at 7:30pm. The derailment occurred when the train was changing tracks a few meters away from the Phusro station. All senior officials of Dhanbad railway division, rushed to the spot almost immediately after the incident.
As the derailment was not of serious nature, the special trains left for its destination about two hours leaving the derailed compartment behind .The tracks were also cleared within two hours. When contacted, DRM Sudhir Kumar told The Pioneer that there seemed to be no foul play but reason for the derailment was yet to be ascertained. He said the tracks were found to be proper condition.
An inquiry committee has been constituted to ascertain the reason behind the accident, the railway sources said. On Thursday evening Eastern Central railway General Manager Barun Bharthuyar along with DRM, Dhanbad Sudhir Kumar and other top officials of DRM office were coming back Dhanbad from Daltanoganj after official inspection. When special train reached near Phusro station its last compartment got derailed. Long distance trains including UP and DN Howrah -Jabalpur Saktipunj, were held up at Gomia and Chanderpura stations .The Gomoh bound UP and DN passengers were detained at Bokaro Thermal and Bhandaridih stations.
