Central Bank to expand operations in Jharkhand

Chairman and Managing Director of Central Bank of India MB Tanksale at a Press conference on Tuesday said that the bank will expand its base in Jharkhand in the coming days. “Currently Central Bank has 65 branches across Jharkhand and we will open another 17 branches in Jharkhand. Out of 17 we have already opened four branches,” he said.

Though, Tanksale accepted delay in opening aforesaid numbers of branches in Jharkhand the announcement to which was made last year. “Sometimes we face logistic problems and do not get desired support from the administration which causes delay,” he explained.

He revealed that the bank was planning to open another ATM counter at Lalpur. “We have been operating one ATM at Lalpur which is receiving 400 hits. Encouraged by this we have decided to open another ATM in the same locality,” he said.

Tanksale said that the bank is planning to open 40 ATMs across the State. Terming the business prospect of Central Bank in Jharkhand satisfactory he said that bank is doing good business in Jharkhand. We have a total business of Rs 2,690 crore in Jharkhand including Rs 2,092 crore as gross deposit and Rs 598 crore as loan and finance.

“Central Bank has appointed business correspondents in 51 villages of Jharkhand as the part of financial inclusion,” he said adding that Central Bank opened 1,00,000 no frill accounts to encourage people.

Tanksale who visited Ranchi to take stocks of the activities of the Central Bank also distributed loans worth Rs 39 crore among 459 people.
