Roy calls meeting with petro dealers

Taking notice of the prevailing theft and adulteration of petroleum products between depot and fuel stations, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Saryu Roy has called an emergency meeting on Friday of investigation committees set up previously by the Department to curb such activities. He also said that this is unethical if it is taken professionally and we must guard ourselves against all these.

The meeting was to take place on Thursday itself but was postponed for Friday, said an office bearer of Jharkhand Petroleum Dealers Association (JPDA) on Wednesday. The committee consists of representatives of petroleum companies and petrol pump dealers association, officials from Weights and Measures Department and also representatives of consumers.

The meeting has been called after resistance of transport companies against such inspections by committees at various locations and regions. “It is disgusting and insulting to get abused by transporters, mainly drivers, conductors and/or any of representatives from transporter if fuel is found less in quantity or adulterated. Adulteration and theft of fuel during transit is a serious issue in State and it is only eating up already congested margins,” said JPDA Secretary Kalika Sah on Wednesday.
